Coolum - Sunshine Coast

Our Region

We might be biased but we reckon Coolum is the best place on earth.

Tucked between Maroochydore and Noosa, you can’t miss our legendary landmark, Mount Coolum - the one with the flat top.

Whether you’re a day-tripper, visiting from interstate or overseas (when that’s allowed again!) you will be blown away by our stunning beaches, clean air, happy vibes and access to everything you could possibly want in a Queensland Destination.

Fun, food, wicked waves and awesome people. What more could you actually ask for?

What's in a name

Coolum’s name is believed to have derived from the Aboriginal word “gulum” or “kulum” meaning “blunt”. It is assumed this is in reference to Mount Coolum’s flat top and lack of a peak.

Indigenous History

The Sunshine Coast is full of Indigenous history, including legends of how Mount Coolum lost its peak! Read more about the Dreamtime Legend here.
